Top Aces Corp. (Top Aces), the world’s sole commercial operator of the F-16 aircraft for advanced adversary air (ADAIR) training, announced the integration of Leonardo’s Skyward infrared search and track (IRST) capability into its F-16 Advanced Aggressor Fighter (AAF) platform. Renowned for its precision in detecting, tracking, and identifying targets through infrared radiation, the IRST technology significantly elevates the training experience for U.S. Air Force (USAF) 5th-generation fighter pilots.
The integration of Leonardo’s Skyward IRST, a cutting-edge passive long-wave infrared sensor, provides a broad scan volume for early target detection and extended range engagement, enhancing the Top Aces pilot’s ability to challenge 5th-generation tactics in various phases of air-to-air combat training. Additionally, the F-16 AAF is equipped with an active electronically scanned array (AESA) radar, a helmet-mounted cueing system, and Link-16 capabilities, further augmenting its advanced training features.
This collaboration marks a significant milestone for the ADAIR industry as it advances the field with IRST on F-16 AFF. Read the news from Top Aces.
