Leonardo Electronics US Inc. Cited for 2021 Defense Manufacturing Technology Achievement Award

Tucson, AZ (February 3, 2022) — Leonardo Electronics US, Inc. is proud to have received the 2021 Supply Chain Improvement award from the Joint Defense Manufacturing Technology Panel (JDMTP) at the 2021 Defense Manufacturing Conference in Denver, Colorado on December 13th, 2021.

Presented by Mr. Robert A. Gold, Director, Technology and Manufacturing Industrial Base, Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering, these awards are presented to teams who have successfully demonstrated the importance of delivering manufacturing technology solutions impacting the Department of Defense (DoD) mission.

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, Leonardo Electronics US's commercial business was significantly impacted, causing the company severe financial challenges. Using funds authorized and appropriated under the CARES Act, the DoD entered into an agreement with Leonardo Electronics US to sustain critical Defense Industrial Base capabilities for Missile Defense Agency (MDA)/DoD programs. MDA served as the lead stakeholder for this Defense Production Act (DPA) Title III effort, ensuring the future transition of advanced laser technology to the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) High Energy Laser Industrial Scaling Initiative. The Supply Chain Improvement Award recognizes the hard work and due diligence that Leonardo Electronics US displayed.

“We are honored to be recognized by DoD ManTech and proud of our teams at Leonardo Electronics US and their ability to meet the challenges of the pandemic by implementing innovated manufacturing solutions for our DoD commitments,” said Prabhu Thiagarajan, SVP Laser Solutions. We are proud to receive this award, and I would like to thank our teams – the bedrock upon which this award is based.”
