Shipping & Receiving Clerk

The Shipping and Receiving Specialist will be responsible for verifying and keeping records on incoming and outgoing shipments and preparing items for shipment under the direction of the Shipping and Receiving Lead. Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments against bills of lading, packing lists, invoices, or other records.  Prepares shipments in strict accordance with company and government regulations.

  • Unpacks and examines incoming shipments ensuring no damage or visible issues with packaging.
  • Responsible for the prompt booking in of incoming shipments, verifying count, part number, revisions, description, and appropriate documentation. 
  • Transfer of goods from receiving to physical inventory locations.
  • Creation of non-conformance reports for incorrect incoming material to be presented at Material Review Board (NRB) for review and disposition by QA.
  • Preparation and packaging of outgoing shipments including labels, packing lists, and other documentation.
  • Ensure packaging is professional and protected padding/fillers utilized as needed.
  • Posts weight and shipping charges and affixes postage as needed.
  • Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications prior to sign off by QA and Compliance.
  • Liaise with carriers to ensure the timely delivery/pick up of incoming and outgoing shipments.
  • May operate hand-truck to move, convey or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving area to storage or work areas.
  • Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
  • Assist the Shipping and Receiving Lead in identifying areas for improvement and efficiencies for the area.
  • Alert the Shipping and Receiving Lead to any hazardous or dangerous equipment or incidents so that appropriate action can be taken.
  • Accurately maintain all records required by the US Government and SG Inc to support both internal and external audits.
  • Assist with document development and maintenance as they relate to Shipping and Receiving

  • An ability to prioritize and respond dynamically and accurately to a changing and high stress environment.
  • Microsoft Excel and Word skills are required
  • Knowledge of TIPQA would be an advantage
  • Entry level position, training will be provided      
  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds
