Radio Frequency Engineer

Leonardo Electronics US is the US branch of the Leonardo, a world leader in Electronic Warfare (EW) systems.  The EW Radio Frequency (RF) Engineer for Leonardo Electronics US. is the company’s technical expert on RF systems as applied to EW including RF countermeasures (RFCM), Radar Warning Receivers (RWR) and Electronic Support Measures (ESM).  The RF Engineer supports sale of products in the US which were developed by Leonardo MS.  Additionally the RF Engineer develops engineering proposals and leads efforts to tailor product designs for US specific requirements, supports customer evaluation/testing of products and provides after sales product support.

Duties

  • Become familiar with the Leonardo MS portfolio of EW systems (e.g. BriteCloud Expendable Active Decoy (EAD), SAGE Electronic Support Measures (ESM) and SEER Radar Warning Receiver) and develops long term strategies for tailoring products to meet specific US requirements
  • Participate in the Business Development Team as the technical expert for RF systems.  Interface with technical staff in customer organizations and present EW products from a technical perspective 
  • Support test events in the US and accompany potential US Customers to UK test events involving the parent company
  • Assist users in issue/problem resolution including writing technical papers and participation in technical meetings.
  • Participates in SG Inc engineering team processes, reviewing designs, proposals and engineering products
  • Participate in the full engineering lifecycle of systems, including requirements gathering and maintenance, design, development, test, integration, validation and verification, and support
  • Perform traceability of requirements using requirements management tools
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills/Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years’ engineering experience, with 5 years related to Electronic Warfare RF Systems
  • Solid understanding of military RFCM techniques such as Digital RF Memory (DRFM)
  • Highly polished verbal and written communication skills - able to communicate complex technical concepts to high level technical and non-technical staffs 
  • Experience with RF Modeling tools and an understanding of threat system radar signatures 
  • Ability to attain and maintain a US SECRET security clearance (active clearance desired)
  • Experience with standard office PC environment (MS Windows7, MS Office 2010, etc.) require
  • Experience as a systems architect, developing RF Systems through requirement development, design, development and testing desired

Education

  • BSEE or related technical degree.

Work Conditions

  • Office environment with Huntsville Al as the primary work location
  • Travel: appx 50% (some international, primarily to the UK)
  • Regular demonstrations and testing within the SG Inc Systems Integration Laboratory
  • Occasional work at customer and partner laboratories and EW ranges
