Material Program Manager

The Material Project Manager will be responsible for the management to completion, of complex material and service procurements in support of Leonardo Electronics Inc. as a service provider to Leonardo MW Ltd (LMW).  They should have knowledge and understanding of the processes of manufacturing, project management, quality, procurement and engineering functions within an organization and the ability to determine areas of risk associated with these processes. The Material Project Manager will be responsible for maintaining all records associated with subcontracts in an accurate and controlled manner in accordance with LEI process/policies and in support of DCAA/DCMA requirements.  

Supply Chain Management is a key element in the success of LEI to both retain and grow existing business and to assist in securing new business.  The Material Project Manager will liaise closely with the SCMS Procurement Service team and key stakeholders in LMW and across multiple functions within each organization to ensure continued support to LMW.

  • Understanding key elements of RFQ/RFP/RFI requirements generated by LMW directly to key US located suppliers and ensuring that Purchase Orders generated to these US suppliers accurately reflect the Customer Purchase Order including flow down of appropriate FAR/DFAR requirements and terms and conditions.
  • Working closely with LMW Procurement and Program Managers and liaising with the SCMS Service Provider team to ensure all information key to maintaining a reliable and stable supply chain in support of LMW is secured.
  • Compliant record keeping in accordance with LEI process and procedures and in support of DCAA and DCMA requirements.
  • Participate in CDR, PDR and PRR as needed.
  • Perform supplier capacity/capability assessments as needed.
  • Manage supplier risk and generate and manage supplier recovery/action plans ensuring all stakeholders are involved.
  • Ensure system data is maintained and accurate to support MRP/ERP requirements
  • Manage supplier KPI’s and report performance monthly to Project Managers/Operations personnel


  • A minimum of 10 - 15 years of defense/government Supply Chain experience including robust understanding of project management, manufacturing/production processes, risk mitigation in the supply chain, procurement, and subcontract management
  • Must have strong organizational skills
  • Must be a self-starter with ability to work under minimal supervision.
  • Must have an ability to prioritize and respond to a changing environment.
  • Must possess expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and database manipulation and a working level of Word, and PowerPoint.     
  • Must possess good analytical and evaluation skills.
  • A sound knowledge of import and export requirements including ITAR as it relates to the US Government requirements.
  • Ability to work within a team.
  • Must possess good communication skills, both oral and written and at all levels within an organization with internal and external customers.
  • Must be results oriented and customer focused.
