Account Manager

A key member of the business development, sales and marketing staff within the Leonardo Electronics (LEI). This multi-faceted role will include leading and participating in the marketing and sales of our semiconductor laser products to the defense industry. This would be a technical role requiring the employee to become well versed in LEI’s core competencies, technologies and products and have the ability to effectively communicate these to customers. You will be our key customer’s primary point of contact. Understand our customer’s applications and the role we play in the market as a whole. Perform a variety of tasks interfacing directly with the customer senior management, engineering, production and business personnel.

  • Customer focused - develop and maintain positive professional relationships with customers
  • Establish strong working relationships with internal staff
  • Assist the sales team to achieve company targets
  • Market research and analysis
  • Lead and assist with tradeshows and sales exhibit planning
  • Review and evaluate customer technical requirements
  • Become an active member of the defense laser market through participation in associations and market events.
  • Support development of collateral and marketing data: Product data sheets, specifications, application notes, and technical papers
  • Prepare and present sales information, presentations and quotations
  • Organize and attend meetings at customer locations (~30% travel is required)
  • Contribute to development of market strategies and goals
  • Author technical and marketing literature


  • The ideal candidate offers the following:
  • 1-3 years or more of experience in laser technology
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent experience in the military
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail are required.
  • Military/defense experience a plus.
  • Ability to interpret industry needs and directions, assess capacity, and to plan, develop, and implement appropriate sales and marketing strategies.
